2002 Glen Manor Sauvignon Blanc
Palate
Dry, medium-bodied, mouth-filling fruit, slightly herbal, grapefruit zest, with a clean, fresh, finish.
Aromas
Tropical fruits including grapefruit, kiwi, and pineapple. Also hints of fresh herbs, especially mint and lemon thyme.
Food Pairings
Fresh goat cheese, cold seafood, grilled fish and vegetables, summer salads, and any dishes seasoned with lots of fresh herbs.
Vineyard
Glen Manor Vineyards is owned and operated by Jeff White who is also part of the Linden Vineyards staff. Glen Manor is on the west slope of the Blue Ridge about 7 miles west of Linden Vineyards at an elevation of 1,100 ft . Soils are deep greenstone and well drained. Vines are 8 years old and trained on the French lyre trellising system.
Vintage
2002 was hot and dry. The sauvignon blanc grapes were healthy with great sauvignon typicality. The west canopy was harvested September 3, and the east side of the vines on September 10.
Winemaking
Only the free run juice was used from the hand sorted, lightly crushed grapes. The wine was cold fermented in tank at 50°F. Bottled March 2003. 326 cases produced.
