Hardscrabble Red 2014

We felt this vintage needed more time to develop and patience rewarded us. It has a “come hither” aroma that has wonderful complexity and is a little bit corrupt. The wine has the sinewy build of a swimmer: lean and taught. The antithesis of a California Cabernet. (84% Cabernet Sauvignon & 16% Merlot)

Avenius Chardonnay 2016

This wine is a great example of the expression of a cool site (Avenius) from a warm vintage (2016). This Chardonnay’s uncommon weight and body comes from a hot, dry growing season. Its ripeness is kept fresh by the classic mineral acidity that is the hallmark of the Avenius ridge.
