2023 Vintage | December Tank Tasting

This winter we will bottle the 2023 wines, but the raw power of this vintage may require a lot of patience before we release the wines to market. Bottling can be disruptive to a wine's development. This disruption is commonly known as bottle shock. Eventually the wines grow out of their post-bottling shell and go on to evolve and shine.

This December we'll give you an opportunity to taste before bottling. The final blends are now resting and integrating in tanks, having spent the last year in barrel. At this stage they show both the power of 2023 and the youthful simplicity of pure, fresh fruit. This is what I call the "delicious stage."

The event will take place in the cellar so dress warmly. There will be four stations. The people who grew the grapes and made the wine will be pouring the wines. At each station, you will taste the 2023 vintage from tank alongside an older vintage from bottle. This is a great way to experience how wines evolve and change with age. Simple but thoughtful food pairings will accompany the tasting.

The eight wines

Boisseau Chardonnay: 2023 and 2014
Avenius Chardonnay: 2023 and 2017
Claret: 2023 and 2020
Hardscrabble Red: 2023 and 2017

I'm looking forward to seeing you in December.
Jim
