Our featured cluster has been marked with a white bread tie. It has too much company right now. Some of the surrounding clusters will be removed in the coming weeks.

So far, so dry

The personality of vintage 2024 is starting to unfold. It is dry.  Less than an inch of rain fell in June. Our Cabernet Sauvignon cluster hasn’t changed much.  Individual berries remain small. This is exciting for winegrowers as small berries make concentrated wines: a possible prologue for a high-quality vintage. While the berries are small, the clusters are large and plentiful. Looks like we’ll need to do a lot of cluster thinning (removal) later this month in order to reduce the size of the crop. If vines are asked to ripen too many grapes the resulting wines can be wan and uninspiring.
