Hardscrabble Journal

Pruning: An Eerie Normalcy

I’m pruning young vines with head down. Sap is flowing as it should. Henbit’s purple flowers bloom, making for a stunning ground cover. A hawk’s screech pierces the silence. Stupid turkeys frantically pace the deer fence looking for a way out. (Apologies to Ben Franklin.) They are able to fly over, but unwilling to do so.

On this hillside life continues uninterrupted.
