Full Circle

I spent most of today packing wine for UPS shipping. It was satisfying on many levels. These sales had not entered into the equation several weeks ago when we decided to shut our doors. Shipping wine was never a significant part of Linden’s business model. It is now our only source of revenue.

Shari takes the order on the phone, then hands it to me with a story. So many stories and memories with loyal friends who will be enjoying our work at their dinner table. I take great satisfaction in recognizing many of the names going on the packing labels.

These connections are important, especially if we can provide a bit of distraction to seemingly endless routines.

As I handle these wines, I also remember their stories: of the vintage and even further back, of their planting. This sense of completeness can be best realized on this scale. Fortunately, I learned early in life that small is beautiful.
