Waiting Game

Chardonnay is finally starting to some decent shoot growth. The vines have struggled this cool April. Usually the vines display a quick flush of florescent green growth. This spring has been different, as there has been very little progress.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but we are itching to get the season rolling. It looks like another week of below normal temperatures. Back to busy work. It may be another two weeks before we start the first spring vineyard task of shoot thinning. 

What started as a very early start to the growing season has now fallen back to about normal timing. So we take some time off, rest and prepare for the big push once true spring arrives.
