We are taking advantage of ideal picking days and bringing in all the Merlot from all three vineyard sites. The weather of the past week has had a significant positive impact on flavors and skin tannin maturity.

Jonathan and I are also retooling the crush pad from whites to reds. The processing is very different and requires presses, sorting tables, crushers and chutes all to be reconfigured. This vintage we’ll have to do this several times as we still have two white grape varieties on the vines (Vidal and Petit Manseng).

Hurricane Delta is now on our radar. Looks like we could get some rain on Sunday. This may trigger more picking in advance of Delta’s approach.
