Cool and Dry

May starts the busy season in the vines. However this has been an uncharacteristically relaxing week in the vineyard. Cool temperatures have slowed vine growth and a dry spell has kept grass and weed development at manageable levels. 

We’ve learned to take advantage of what Mother Nature hands us. We react to the bad, but we also breathe in the good. So this week gardens are planted, a mid-week hike is planned, and an impromptu technical wine tasting is conducted. 

We are reminded that a farmer’s life is organized around the weather and it will change.
