Canopy Work

We are now at the peak of canopy work in the vineyard. The task is repetitive in nature. One could make a comparison to a factory assembly line, but simply being outside negates that argument.

Unlike inside work, Mother Nature will also provide distractions. The occasional bite from a deer fly can lull you out of any tedium. Coming upon a hornet’s nest gets the adrenaline going. I once came head to head with a very large black snake wrapped around the trellis wire. That was exciting for both of us.

These stimulations are visceral and disturbing. However, sometimes the opposite occurs.
