After dire warnings of a bud killing freeze, the only thing we lost was sleep.

29°F was predicted, but 34°F is what we got. After midnight the winds calmed. This resulted in thermal air inversions where the heavy cold air tumbled low to the bottomland. The warmer, lighter air rose up to the vineyard elevation.

This is why vines are planted on slopes!
