2013 Hardscrabble Red

Autumnal. Aged red wines often evoke a feel of fall. The 2013 Hardscrabble Red has an earthy, dried leaf character that dovetails well with its black raspberries on the nose and dark fruits on the palate. It is hitting its stride as the tannins are still firm, but they are relaxing and silkier than when this wine was more youthful.

As vintage 2022 unfolds, it is reminding us of vintage 2013: a wet growing season capped by a dry September. Let’s hope the pattern holds. We will most likely start red grape harvest later next week.

As the big chill moves in from the north, we thought this wine most appropriate to serve as Linden’s Library selection for this weekend.

Each weekend Linden features an older vintage from our wine library for tasting. Additionally, Friends of Linden can purchase a carafe of the wine to enjoy on the deck. Unfortunately we rarely have enough stock to purchase by the bottle.
