2015 Avenius Sauvignon Blanc
Pungent is the word that we all immediately agreed on. There is an aromatic lift that has so many layers. Lime, juniper (gin and tonic), roasted corn, just to get started. However, this wine’s herbal characteristics garnered the most discussion. We’ve had this debate before: fresh herbs, herbal, herbaceous, even green and vegetal. They all describe something slightly different. Perhaps the true difference is in the nose of the beholder. What’s important is that there is lots of talk. This is a wine with personality.
Being so absorbed with the aromatics, you could forget to taste. A powerful pungent puckering palate. Good old-school feisty Sauvignon. If it wasn’t for the weight of the mid-palate, the wine’s acidity could have been over the top, but it works.
Note: Each weekend Linden features an older vintage from our wine library for Friends of Linden to purchase by the carafe to enjoy on the deck. Unfortunately we rarely have enough stock to sell by the bottle.
