Break on Through to the Other Side

It has been a rough couple of weeks for the grapes. Hot, humid, and wet do not make great wine. Good riddance to August. Visually, the grapes are holding up well. However when tasted, they lack the verve and concentration we need to make terroir-driven wines. This comes as no surprise since cool nights, low dew points, and clear crisp skies are the prerequisite for fine wines.

Unfortunately, waiting for the right conditions will come at a cost. We must first brace ourselves and agonize through the rains of Ida. The grapes will take a hit. There will be some rot and there will be dilution, but then the weather will break on through to the other side.

This will happen by the end of the week. Ideal weather will finally arrive. The grapes will ripen properly and lift our spirits. Thursday will bring the beginning of the perfect ripening conditions that we so desperately need.

Only the Vaccinated

Unfortunately, one cannot taste wines while wearing a mask. We encourage masks whenever possible, but as an additional precaution, Linden will now only receive vaccinated guests.

We have modernized (for us) and streamlined purchasing for pickups and UPS shipping. Linden can now ship to Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. We do hope you will consider taking advantage of these options. During the summer we may need to delay shipping due to excessive heat.
