Linden Update | May 8, 2024
Dedicated to the Vines
Green work has started early this year. This is the term we use for all the hand work that is needed to properly manage the vineyard canopy as it quickly develops. We are now shoot thinning. In the spring, vines push out more shoots than are needed. This would result in a dense, tangled jungle of growth. It would also contribute to thin, shrill wines. Our job now is to remove the less desirable shoots and retain those which are best positioned to make the best wines.
Most vineyards regularly bring in hired crews to do green work. But Linden retains the now outdated tradition of doing all the vineyard work ourselves. This means that for the next two months we are exclusively dedicated to the vines.
But there is one exception. Every month the barrels must be topped off. They lose volume due to evaporation through the wood staves. This results in a small headspace that has to be regularly filled. "Topping off day" gives us an opportunity to methodically taste our wine's evolution. This week we found the 2023 Chardonnays truly exceptional. We decided that we would like to share them with you.
Vintage 2023 Chardonnay Barrel Tasting
Sunday, June 2, 2024
For one day only, Linden's winegrowers will be in the cellar at each barrel to pour and explain why the 2023 vintage was so special. The 2019 vintage from each vineyard will also be poured alongside the 2023 barrel sample. This is a great opportunity to understand how Linden Chardonnays evolve with time in the bottle.

Linden Sauvignon Blanc | 4-pack
The end of shipping season is soon upon us (we won't send out wine in the summer heat). Over the next week or two we'll send you a few 4-pack offerings of white wines to accompany summer cuisine.
Sauvignon Blanc season is approaching. We eat lighter and drink more refreshing, nervy wines. These are great seafood and salad wines.
Linden's style of Sauvignon Blanc has evolved over the decades. In the 1990s we were admittedly enamored with the "New Zealand style," which emphasizes aggressive grassy, bell pepper, and grapefruit flavors. But as our vines and our palates matured, we have gravitated towards more restrained, complex, and mineral driven versions of Sauvignon Blanc.
We are offering both our current release (2021) and a pre-release (2022). Best served al fresco on a warm evening.
$139.00
